I’m Caio Ferraz, pronounced Kyle.
I’m an Award-Winning Electronic Pop Violinist, who's been playing and performing for over 9 years. I am passionate about my instrument, my music and sharing it with the world.
I was originally born in São Paulo, Brazil and spent the first 16 years of my life there. At the beginning of 2014, I moved to Sydney, Australia, finished high school and did a Bachelor of Music at the Western Sydney University.
My previous musical experience includes:
I chose the violin over other instruments as I remember being hypnotised by this beautiful instrument and its sound. My mum used to tell me whenever I went to weddings all I would do was spend time watching the violinists instead of actually watching the ceremony itself.
She also told me that I would very often ask if I could learn the violin. But you know how kids want to do lots of stuff and you can’t really listen to everything they ask for, right? It was different for me and the violin, tho. My mum noticed that it was something I kept asking to learn, so she finally decided to let me give it a go, and for that I am SO GRATEFUL (As you can see I’ve always been an annoying and pushy kid! haha)
So now we are back in 2008. I’m 11 years old and I’m searching for violin teachers. My primary school music teacher helped me find a great violin tutor, to whom I owe SO MUCH and will always have a special place in my heart.
I still remember the day I had my first violin lesson, by the way - it was a Tuesday, 26th August, 2008. I took lessons for 3 years but had to stop temporarily, and unfortunately I never got the chance to go back to them. But that didn't stop me. I was dedicated and kept practising my myself, which allowed me to discover I had great ears, and made it really easy to learn and play my favourite songs by memory and pitching.
One day I was watching some violin videos on YouTube and I accidentally stumbled upon the incredible Vanessa Mae, and her amazing videos. I was fascinated by the fact that she played dance and techno music on an electric violin - which I had never heard of before, and specially because it was a music genre that I didn’t even know could be done with a violin.
Within time, I also found out about Sharon Corr, André Rieu, David Garret and Lindsey Stirling, who instantly became, and still is, my violin hero. I also had the honour of meeting her in person, during one of her concerts in Australia, back in February 2014. And that is something I absolutely will never forget.
I’m currently working on some original music to hopefully put out my first original EP. Fingers crossed, this will also allow me to release a debut album in a brief future.
Speaking of which, I don’t know what the future holds for me. What I do know is: that I will keep working hard to always be the best version of myself that I can; dreaming big but also waking up and keeping both feet on the ground, so that I can pursue these dreams and make them all come true.
I’m really glad to have you by my side. Thank you for all your love and support, and for being part of my story.Love,
